To all who read this I urgently request that any of you who are planning a mission trip to Guatemala, please consider using PRESGOV to support that trip. This wonderful organization exists to assist mission workers traveling to Guatemala. There costs are reasonable and all profit goes right back into equipment maintenance and administrative costs. Mission Trip July 3-10, 2010 |

The trip planning is underway. We will most likely be doing some sort of food project. (planting gardens/crops, providing seeds etc) Guatemala's rainy season washed a lot of crops away. Edward Esparza tells me that the church we started in July 2009 is now complete. We are trying to get pictures and will have them posted as soon as possible.  CESSMAQ, Centro Evangélico de Servicio y Socorro Maya Quiché (the Evangelical Committee for Service and Support of Maya Quiche Presbytery), provides a ministry of church planting, literacy and theological education, advocacy for community health, and agricultural economic development projects, transforming lives throughout the highlands of western Guatemala.
While CESSMAQ is a Presbyterian organization and agency of the Maya Quiche Presbytery of the National Presbyterian Church of Guatemala, CESSMAQ works ecumenically with and has received support from many Christian traditions, and is committed to communities in need regardless of their faith tradition. Aid to CESSMAQ is provided by several organizations in the USA including the PC(USA) Mission Presbytery Guatemala Partnership Committee who manage this web site. This committee contains members from a wide collection of (mostly) Presbyterian churches in Central Texas and works to raise funds for CESSMAQ programs in Guatemala and to increase awareness of the needs of the Guatemalan rural poor through presentations, outreach activities and mission trips.
